Picture it, 1985. The first episode of The Golden Girls airs, introducing the world to Sophia Petrillo, Rose Nylund, Blanche Devereaux, and Dorothy Zbornak. The show attracted more than 25 million viewers, becoming the highest-rated program of the week and consistently ranked in the top 10 sitcoms during its run.
I started watching at 12 years old with my grandmother. My grandma is super religious but this show was her guilty pleasure. I didn’t realize how many people my age watched this wonderful show. The crazy part The Golden Girls were ahead their time on important issues that were are still facing today.
The Golden Girls managed to show viewers the importance of the simple and timeless values of humankind as caring, loving, forgiving etc.
For nostalgia points, I have Golden Girls monopoly, mugs, t-shirts, key-chains, and coloring book. I found these dope patches on ETSY from seller YOU SILLY DUFFER. Check out her store she has so many fun things.
