90s female rappers

I’m trying something new on the blog today. I love music, and I listen to Spotify on the daily. I make my playlist a lot to keep me pumped up during the week. Fun fact: in the military, I used to go by DJ Lex and made and sold mixtapes all throughout the barracks. I was the only one with a computer and use to risk it all for the Lime Wire viruses. Music helped me get through two tours of Iraq and pretty much everything in my life. Female rappers

Over the weekend a female rap beef erupted between Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj. All my timelines have been blowing with opinions and memes. I even had a conversation with my little brother Leroy and close friend Ali about the state of Hip-Hop and of course 90s Hip-Hop. We didn’t agree on everything, but we all did agree on one thing that is missing in Hip-Hop today, female rappers empowerment. Back in the 90’s, there were so many female rappers were every bit as versatile as their male counterparts. They proved that women were just as strong, fearless, and capable of standing as tall as the next man but also of outshining them. It was OK back then for many ladies to shine at once. I remember ladies you to do songs together or make appearances on each other videos. Yes, there is the long-standing beef with Lil’ Kim and Foxy Brown and some other small ones we don’t remember lol. But most of the 90s was female harmony.

The last ten years it’s only been one female rapper making waves. I’m not knocking Nicki Minaj she has done her thing. Sh has made it where her music has an international following. What irritates me is that there are just so many dope female rappers, but they get no shine or radio play. Yeah, we could argue it’s the artist fault or record labels who aren’t pushing for female lyricists. It just personally hurts my heart. I would love if there was a Ladies Night Part 2 but  I’m not holding my breath.

I made a playlist on Spotify to take us back to the good old days when we use to hold our hair brush as a mic and rap in the mirror. There were so much to choose from this playlist is 66 songs that rock for four hours. This playlist is perfect for your game nite, commute, or office play. Drop a comment and tell me what you think of the playlist and if I missed anyone.
