I’ve been a search for a red plaid skirt and pants for a while. A few years back, when I started shopping on UK websites, I learned the correct name of red plaid. I found out that it’s actually called Tartan print. It’s the plaid textile design of Scottish origin consisting of stripes of varying width and color usually patterned to designate a distinctive clan. I think only in the US calls it plaid.

Whenever most people think of plaid skirts, they immediately think of a schoolgirl uniform or Christmas time. Now, as a child of the 90s, I always associate Tartan with Gwen Stefani. It was her go-to look. She always made it look bomb. I wanted to find Tartan print to match my Dr. Martens. I know it’s cliche lol, but I’ve always wanted to do it. I found the mini plaid skirt for $10 on Boohoo. It’s true to size. I kept it simple with a black to make the skirt pop. Due to the light material, you can wear this skirt in all seasons. When it’s warmer, you can pair the plaid skirt with a short sleeve crop top and Dr. Martens for an edgy look.
