breakup Playlist I’m trying something new on the blog today. I love music, and I listen to Spotify on the daily. I make my playlist a lot to keep me pumped up during the week. Fun fact: in the military, I used to go by DJ Lex and made and sold mixtapes all throughout the barracks. I was the only one with a computer and use to risk it all for the Lime Wire viruses. Music helped me get through two tours of Iraq and pretty much everything in my life.

I made the “Cut Him Off” playlist because it’s what I needed to get out of a recent funk. Breaking up is a horrifying pain in the ass. Some women depend on their friends while others drown their sorrow with ice cream and cliché movies. Sometimes you cannot find the right words to correctly describe how you’re feeling after a breakup — that’s where songs come into play. I’ve always been a person who uses music as a form of therapy. You need an anthem to get you out of your feelings. One that makes you leave your cocoon of blanket and pillows and peace out your pity party. One that makes you put your windows down and sing loud AF while driving to work.

And since everyone on this planet will go through a breakup at one time or another, I’ve rounded up the best songs I could find to help ease the transition from in feeling sad to “I’m the shit.” I mixed the playlist with new music and old faithful. There were a couple of songs I wanted to add, but their albums are not on Spotify. Either way, I know that you’ll find what you’re looking for somewhere on this list.
