Sneaker History: gold air max 97
The Air Max 97 is a Nike running shoe designed by Christian Tresser. It was inspired by Japan’s high-speed Bullet Trains and features a mix of leather, foam, and full-length visible Air.
I was 14 years old when the gold Nike Air Max 97’s dropped. I wanted them so bad, but my parents couldn’t afford them. I vowed that one day I would get them. They released retros in 2002. I copped two pairs of the gold. I deployed to Iraq the following year, and my storage was lost. I came back so upset that I didn’t have my sneakers. Mind you I also didn’t have my TV, bed, or couch lol. I was only worried about my sneaker collection that I worked so hard to get classics.
Fast forward to May 2017 the Gold Air Max 97’s were being released for the 20th Anniversary. I knew I had to have them, but I didn’t want to pay the resale price. I logged on Nike’s SNKRS app five minutes early from my computer and phone and kept my fingers crossed. I got them on the first try I screamed I was so hype. Check out the here, there are different colorways available.
The crazy thing is I had to have them but haven’t taken them out the box until now. With them being gold I can color coordinate or wing it as street fashion. I clearance shop before I check out full price items. I was able to match my sneakers to an all black outfit that I got on clearance. The bag is just a fun find. This is a simple look that can be rocked all seasons with a little switch up. FYI the skirt comes in several colors.
